I was just bullied by Brightspeed to switch to fiber. They are doing away will all copper, so no more DSL. I signed up for 300Mbps, yet when I do a speed test I am only getting 160 -190mbps. The so called tech they sent out said my computer was "outdated", and I should not be using firefox because it was an "android and old fashioned" browser. My network adapter is capable of 466mbps, so why am I not getting the full amount of 300? I live in a small 900 sq. ft. cottage, so distance is not an issue.

Are you talking about wifi ? Let me tell you one example: racing cars can do over 300kmh on racing tracks but not your bicycle . The wifi adapter on your machine is not good enough
Regards.
