My Notebook crashed earlier today when I turned it on, the system quickly fixed itself so it could turn back on. Unfortunately it seems to have forgotten what wireless connection is. My Notebook now only searches for wired connections and shows no signs of "searching" for a wireless connection.
The icon in the bottom right on my screen now shows the Ethernet icon instead of the wireless icon.
I have tried the following:
- Ran a normal network diagnostics troubleshoot
- Uninstalling the network adapter from the device manager, then restarting the Notebook so it reinstalls the adapter.
- Run an update on the network adapter through Device Manager.
- Using the HP support assistant troubleshoot, this did exactly the same as above
- Used HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the wireless and local driver directly.
- Attempted system restores from multiple different restore points with no success as the restore points are broken/lost?
This is my first major problem with my Notebook. I haven't done any exterior damage or installed anything new. I did get a "critical update" from Windows on the 4th Dec which I can't system restore to. The device manager says my adapter is fully updated too. HP Support Assistant says no updates are available for my notebook and last checked 3 days ago so it should be fully updated.
My device is out of warranty too. Really hoping my saviour is out there as work is busy for Christmas time.
Thank you!
Keanan
