HP Offcejet 5740 printer doesn't remain connected to wireless. Will reconnect by turning off router and printer and then turning them back on. But after a few hours the printer will once again be not connected to wireless. The is true of trying to print from Dell PC, IPad, Ipone or Macbook laptop.

Hi @gordongbln

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.

1.) Are the printer and devices connected to the same network?

2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? Or, maybe connected through an extender? If you are using a dual-band router, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.

3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer?

While you respond to that, let's try these steps -

1.) Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices.

2.) Wait for 60 seconds.

3.) Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.

4.) Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.

5.) Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.

Update the printer's firmware. Refer to this document for steps - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Set sleep mode to maximum or off -

1.) From the Home screen, touch ( Setup ).

2.) Touch Preferences .

3.) Scroll through the options, and then touch Sleep Mode.

Try assigning a manual IP. Refer to this video link for step by step instructions.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
