HP Omen Transcend 14 Gaming Laptop
Microsoft Windows 11

I'm 75 years old and don't always understand computers.  I have worked on this speed issue for several days and have not yet found a solution.  Could someone please offer me some assistance.

I purchased a new HP Omen Transcend 14 Gaming Laptop on 10/5/2024 directly from HP.  Since purchase, I have been reading the information on the HP website, and elsewhere, so that I might understand this new system.

The HP data sheet indicates the laptop has a Thunderbolt 4 with USB Type-C 40 GBPS signaling rate.  I purchased a new CalDigit 4 docking station for ease in dealing with the cables.  I also purchased new Cat. 8 cables.  I have 2GB internet service through Cox Communications that tests as high as 2.30 GBPS into the modem.  I use a wired connection directly from the Cox modem, through the Cat. 8 cables, into the CalDigit 4 docking station, which communicates directly with the computer through a Thunderbolt 4 cable.  I cannot get more than 1GBPS speed at the laptop.  Other than this speed issue, the laptop operates perfectly.

I contacted HP support on 10/13/2024 and someone outside the USA answered.  That person indicated no ISP provides 2GB speed.  At that point, I concluded I should inquire further.

I have reviewed the CalDigit website for downloads.  As of 10/12/2024, I have been able to download the following from the CalDigit website: (1) the ethernet "wired_driver_28.2.1 x64 bit driver", and (2) the CalDigit Thunderbolt Ports USB PD (Power Delivery) Firmware Updater.

For reasons unknown to me, I have been UNABLE to download the following from the CalDigit website: (1) Win 11 NetAdapterCx 2.1.4.2 file from the WHQL folder, and (2) the Thunderbolt Firmware Updated 5.0 file, which results in a "Driver fail.  Not compatible with system.  Call system manufacturer{.}" response.

The CalDigit Knowledge Base instructions indicate I need a PCle driver which will provide support for USB4.  I cannot locate a driver on the HP website.  I have updated Windows 11 through 10/12/2024 and all of the software available on the HP website through 10/12/2024.  I don't know if the PCle driver is contained in the CalDigit files I have been UNABLE to download.

I plan to contact CalDigit directly on 10/14/2024.

Has anyone else encountered this same issue and, if so, how was that issue resolved.  Until I can speak with CalDigit, could someone in the Community please tell me how I might fix this issue.

Thanks to the Community.
