Pavilion g6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Pavilion g6. Windows 7. WiFi will not stay connected for more than a couple of minutes. Have tried all fixes in forums, but to no avail. Network connections now shows only one signal coming from modem/router, no longer both the 2.5 and 5 signals. Do I need a new Wifi card even though the device manager shows it is working properly? Have uninstalled and reinstalled - still no luck.

@Wm720, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Do you have other devices working fine with the WiFi network?

Try restarting the Modem and the PC.

Unplug the Power cable from the modem, turn off the PC. Wait for 30 seconds and power both the devices ON.

Let us run a test on the hardware components of the PC

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off  the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. Perform Component Test > Network. Share the result

Also, Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Check for windows update as well.

Let me know how this goes.
