Pavilion 17t-ab200 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After jumping through every hoop I could find to try to determine the RAM specs for my machine, I used the HP Operating System Check program which reports a maximum capacity of 32GB. I have 16GB installed as part of the original configuration as follows:

Bank 0: Occupied | Installed: 8 GB | Speed: 2400 Mhz | Manufacturer: Samsung | Device Locator: Bottom-Slot 1(left)

Bank 1: Occupied | Installed: 8 GB | Speed: 2400 Mhz | Manufacturer: Samsung | Device Locator: Bottom-Slot 2(right)

I'm interested in shopping to upgrade to 32GB. However, when I search on Pavilion 17t-ab200 CTO at Crucial (or generally online) I'm informed there is a 16GB max for RAM for my machine. So, which is correct 16GB or 32GB max?

Hi,

What CPU do you have installed? As you can see in service manual for that series there are many possibilities.

HP notebooks with 7th and 8th gen Intel Core processors are known to support 32GB of RAM and will work.

Hope it helps,

David

I have the i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.8GHz.

Does that suggest this would be a compatible purchase?

Or is there a better option? Thanks for the input!
