Hi @ibmac,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To help me understand the situation better, could you please share a bit more information?

 Please let me know:

1. Device Manager Check

  • In Device Manager → Network adapters, do you see:
    • Realtek RTL8852AE listed?
    • Or is it missing completely?
  • Do you see any Unknown devices under “Other devices”?

2. Windows Update Information

  • Was the driver you installed from Windows Update, HP Support Assistant, or manually from Realtek?
  • After you installed 6001.10.356.3, did the Wi-Fi disappear immediately or only after the reset?

3. Driver Rollback

  • In Device Manager, when you right-click the Wi-Fi adapter (if visible), is Roll Back Driver available?

4. Network Reset

  • When you performed the reset, was it a Network Reset from Windows settings, or a full Windows reset?

5. BIOS / UEFI

  • If you restart and enter the BIOS (F10), does the BIOS still show the Wireless LAN module enabled?
  • Sometimes BIOS disables the wireless card after a failed update.

6. Hardware Indicators

  • Has the laptop been dropped recently or had any physical issues?
  • Does Bluetooth still work? (Bluetooth and Wi-Fi often share the same chipset.)

7. HP Laptop Model

  • What is your exact HP notebook model?
(Example: HP 15s-eqXXXX, Pavilion, Victus, etc.)
This helps me check the correct driver version for your device.

Troubleshooting Steps to Try

  1. Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager
Sometimes the adapter is hidden after a bad driver install.
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (F2 on startup)
Let me know if it detects the Wi-Fi module.
  3. Try reinstalling the previous driver from:
    • HP Support Assistant
    • HP product driver page
  4. Restart after fully shutting down (Shift + Shutdown)
    This clears some firmware states.

To help you properly, please tell me:

  1. Your HP laptop model
  2. Whether the Wi-Fi adapter appears anywhere in Device Manager
  3. Whether Bluetooth still works
  4. The type of reset you performed
  5. Whether BIOS shows wireless LAN enabled

I hope this helps.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
