I agree completely with the above comment.
1) First, on any laptop, wireless should never fail.
2) If a wirelesss internet connection keeps dropping and all the suggestions to get it working correctly (such as get a new router, you need to download new drivers, you need to upgrade windows, etc.) don't work, then HP needs to admit they are responsible for the problem and fix it for free.
3) And one last senario. If Windows is the problem, this is complete nonsense. HP and all other companies should never allow Windows to control how a wireless feature works. If it's a Windows problem, then I blame HP for allowing Windows to have control over something as necessary as having a wireless connection. And it's the responsibility of HP to fix the problem.

I understand that you may be having an issue with your wireless on your Notebook. If you would like, I would be more than happy to do my best and help you!
My first suggestion would be to use the Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet Tool. At the bottom it will ask you questions to help you diagnose the issue.
Please take a look at this great document called Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet. This document will help you troubleshoot the Wi-Fi issue.
Have you tried to Restore the BIOS?
Have you tried to directly connect to the Modem/Router?
Have you uninstalled the driver in the Device Manager?
Did you happen to try using the HP Support Assistant?
