The adapter is Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 BGN WI-FI ADAPTER. Want to get 5g available, but am stuck with the super slow 2.4. Thank you in advance.

Hi:

I believe there is only one antenna cable connected to the Realtek wifi card your notebook comes with.

The only dual band AC wifi card that will work with one antenna is this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)    HP Part # L17365-005

The only place I have been able to find that card for sale is on eBay.   Do your search by the part number, not the model of the wifi card.

It's the right part number, but it is not what the card looks like.

The 8821CE only has one antenna connector, not two.   See how there is only one connector on the right side of the card?

Note:  The above link is not for the lowest price card I see listed, but it has the best picture.

The one in the picture you posted has two.  It might just be a stock photo of a card, but...I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Unless you can call them and verify that the card only has one connector.

Thank you for your help. I went and purchased a 5g USB adapter with external antenna.
