Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

Product Name: Compaq Presario CQ60
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista

Compaq Presario CQ60-420US, Motherboard 579000-001, Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit.

After 6 years of use (excellent), had to install new hard drive and fresh install Windows.

No manuals, disks or instructions available.

Now I have no internet access: the following are marked with yellow triangle with exclamation point in it.

1) Display Adapters

A) Standard VGA Graphics: not installed or running

2) Network Adapters

A) Realtek RTL8101: not installed or running

3) Other Devices

A) Ethernet Controller: not installed or running

B) PCI Data Aquisition: not installed or running

C) SM Bus Controller: not installed or running

D) Unknown Device: not installed or running

E) Video Controller: not installed or running

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thank you.

Re: Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

Hi:

From the hardware ID you posted, you need this driver for the wireless card:  PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C:

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=5060881&swItemId=ob_108905_1&swEnvOid=4059#

Try the driver directly from realtek for the ethernet controller...first one on the list.

Hi:

First install the chipset driver and reboot.

This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH9m for the supported notebook models and operating systems.

The Intel Chipset Installation Utility installs the .INF files on the target notebook. These files indicate to the operating system how the chipset components are to be configured.

File name: sp39903.exe

Video controller:

This package provides the video/graphics driver for the Intel Mobile 4 Express Chipset in the supported notebook models and operating systems. This driver enables video display and provides a user interface for setting various display properties.

File name: sp41721.exe

Ethernet:

This package contains the driver for the Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC in the supported notebook models and operating systems.

File name: sp39906.exe

If you don't see a network controller device listed, then you probably need to install this software and use it to enable the wireless card, so at least you can see that it needs a driver.

This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant is a user application that provides a way to control the enablement of individual wireless devices (such as Bluetooth, WLAN, or WWAN devices) and that shows the state of the radios for these wireless devices.

File name: sp42773.exe

Then according to the parts list for your notebook, you need this wireless card driver...

Unknown device may be this...

Re: Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

You're very welcome.

The product specs for your notebook says it has the Intel graphics, not the Nvidia graphics, so use the Intel graphics driver I posted.

Re: Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

Anytime.

Glad to be of assistance.

If you are stuck with finding drivers, please post the hardware ID's for the devices needing them and I will post the links to the drivers you need.

To find the hardware ID for a device, go to the device manager and click on each device with the ! mark in the triangle.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the device window.

Now you should see a Property drop down list.

Drop down on that list and select the second item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

Re: Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

ok able to play movies again, pictures and games all working and looking normal..

down to 2 yellow triangles..

Ethernet Controller still not resolved and still no access to internet:

following comes up:

The drivers for this device are not installed. (code 28)

Property-Hardware Ids-first string:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_137A103C&REV_01

So far have ran .EXE's:

Sp39903

Sp41721

Sp39906

Sp42773

in that order..

Re: Reinstalled windows Vista Home premium

Hi

you sir have been a God send, did the last 2 items you posted and internet is up and running. The wife already took it away (hers to begin with) and is reinstalling Norton.

Thank you very much for taking the time and walking me this recovery.
