I have an old HP 245 G7 notebook. It has a realtek rtl8723de 802.11b g n PCIe working fine, but with slow WiFi speeds.

Are there any modern 5G capable cards that can be swapped for this one (simple plug and play)?

Since you only have one antenna, you can use the following,, search online using the part number

 

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac 1 × 1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
L17365-005
