HP Notebook 14-dq1115no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have a HP Notebook 14-dq1115no, and big problem with my RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe adapter WIFI card.

There is latency problem. Ex. web site stops loading for 2-5sec then it loads. High pings... and so on.

Same problem that many other have with this wifi card on this forum.
I've tried many drives and same problem, running latest driver v 2024.0.10.214

I have two questions, when will HP solve this latency problem?

Can I replace it with a Intel wifi card? If yes, what wifi card will work?

Hi:

The Realtek 8822 and 8821 wifi cards are horrible.  Lots of problems with them.

Since this is a peer to peer forum. no one can answer your first question.

I suggest you raise your concerns with the HP executive team at the link below.

That is the only way they are going to know that there are huge problems out there with those model wifi adapters.

As for your second question...here is the problem...The RTL8821CE was designed to work with one wifi antenna and that is all your notebook has.

Any of the Intel cards require two antenna wires for the wifi and Bluetooth to work properly.

So, you could replace the lousy Reatek card with the Intel AX200 non-vPro model but you will not have any Bluetooth.

You would connect the single antenna cable to the Intel wifi card's Main antenna terminal.

There is a newer wifi driver for the RTL8821CE...2024.0.10.216

Probably won't make a difference, but you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

Hi

Thanks Paul_Tikkanen for quick answer.
I tried driver v2024.0.10.216, but same issues remain.

Next step will be to buy a new Intel wifi card and replace RTL.
And buy a USB Bluetooth adapter.

You're very welcome.

Just make sure you buy the non-vPro version...

Hi

I can confirm that Intel AX200.NGWG works fine.

All lag and freeze problem are gone. Very happy now!

Tips, to other user with this crappy wifi card, download intel driver before you replace card.

I had to do that because my computer did not have any Ethernet port or you can use a usb-drive.

I have spoken to HP Customer support to replace RTL8821x wifi card. The will note replace it with an another card. I've escalated this, hopefully HP will do something about problem, update driver (best solution).

Bluetooth does not work sine lack of antenna in computer.

So my next step is to find a Bluetooth antenna, there is plenty room inside computer to place an antenna. @  do you have any suggestion of a Bluetooth antenna?

Many thanks for advice, @Paul_Tikkanen

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance and thanks for letting us know the AX200 wifi portion of the card works fine.

Unfortunately, the only antenna I know of would be the one listed in your notebook's service manual, chapter 3, page 18.

If you are just going to jury-rig the antenna to fit anywhere inside the PC, you may as well just order the single antenna.

Otherwise, if you plan to run the antenna the way it was designed, fit into the display panel, then you should order the dual antenna kit, and not use the antenna that is already installed.  I think the antenna cables are of different lengths.
