HP Laptop 15-bs015dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to upgrade my wifi card to be able to use the 5g instead of the 2.5g wifi.  My current card is AW-NB274NF (picture included).  I bought a replacement card, but now I don't think it is the right one, I read somewhere that this card cannot get the 5g band??

Is this the right card or is there a better one that I can/should get?

Laptop specs:  Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50 GHz 2.70 GHz, RAM = 8gb, 64 bit operating system

thanks in advance

Hi:

As you can see from the screenshot, your notebook is one where there is only one antenna cable connected the wifi card.

The card you bought requires two antenna cables in order to run correctly.

You can install that card and have the wifi work if you connect the cable to the card's Main antenna terminal.

You will not have Bluetooth because you would need to connect the other antenna cable (which your notebook doesn't have), to the Aux terminal.

If you can't live without bluetooth, you would need this model wifi card...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can find this model on eBay, or at the HP parts store new for $16.50.

The card has the same throughput as the RTL8723BE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, it has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS.

or you can purchase an external dual band USB wifi adapter.
