Hi:
Does your notebook come with the optional WWAN card that allows the SIM card to work?
90% of 840 G2s don't have that optional card, but the cases all have a SIM card slot.
In order to use a SIM card, your notebook must have one of these WWAN adapters showing up under the network adapters device manager category.
HP lt4112 LTE/HSPA+ Qualcomm® Gobi™ 4G Module
HP lt4211 LTE/EV-DO/HSPA+ Qualcomm® Gobi™ 4G Module
HP hs3110 HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Module
If you don't have one of those adapters listed under the Network adapters device manager category, then the SIM card will not work.
