Envy 13-ah1507sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I have today bought a new HP Envy, and the download speed is incredibly slow. I have other devices running on the same network, and they seem to hit 10x the speed that my Envy is hitting. Even downloading simple files is taking a long while (149MB driver file took 2.5 minutes to download).

I have tried installing the drivers from the support website, but this has not helped at all. Can someone please assist, as I am on the verge of throwing this new laptop out of the window!

Hi:

With the Intel 9560 wifi adapter your PC comes with (according to the specs), you should be maxing out on whatever download speeds you are paying for on the 5.0 GHz wifi band.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if updating the wifi driver to the latest version from Intel helps any.

The 1st one on the left is for W10 x64.  Install and restart the PC.

Hi, and thanks for the response.

I have tried this, however am still only hitting around 10Mbps on a speedtest (other devices in the house are around 50-60Mbps), and when downloading files from websites it seems to be anything from 500Kbps to 1.5Mbps.Now, I'm not an expert on internet speed etc, but that seems slow. Am I right?

You're very welcome.

With that wifi adapter, you should be getting the maximum download speed you are paying for on the 5.0 GHz wifi band, and at least 144 MBPS on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

So, yes...500 KBPS to 1.5 MBPS is ridiculously slow.

Unfortunately, I don't know what you can do about it though if the driver update didn't help any.
