Hi @Shor-tee,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with your Realtek adapter on your HP laptop. Realtek adapters are commonly used for networking, including Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections. If you're experiencing issues, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Update Drivers: Outdated drivers can cause problems. Visit the HP support website, enter your laptop's model, and download the latest Realtek network adapter drivers for your operating system.

Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your Windows operating system is up-to-date, as Microsoft often releases updates that can improve compatibility and fix bugs.

Disable and Enable the Adapter: Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar and choose "Open Network & Internet settings." Then, under the "Status" section, click on "Network troubleshooter." You can also try disabling and re-enabling the Realtek adapter from the Device Manager.

Reset Network Settings: Open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run the following commands one by one:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int IP

reset ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

Check for Hardware Issues: If you suspect a hardware issue, try connecting to different networks to see if the problem persists. If possible, test with a different laptop or device to confirm if the network is functioning correctly.

Scan for Malware: Malware can sometimes interfere with network connectivity. Run a thorough malware scan using a reputable antivirus or antimalware program.

Check Firewall and Security Software: Sometimes, firewall settings or third-party security software can block network connections. Temporarily disable these to see if they are causing the issue.

Try a System Restore: If the problem started recently, you can try using System Restore to revert your laptop's settings to a point when the Realtek adapter was working properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
