My (client's) Spectre laptop is plugged into its USB-C dock and using it for video and USB connections. It also has an ethernet cable plugged into it; known good cable and known good wall jack on the other end. However, no ethernet port is recognized by the system. It's not that the port shows disconnected - there is no port showing at all corresponding to the USB-C dock. The laptop is using WiFi instead, but I need it to be connected to the wired network. Also, I just downloaded and installed the latest drivers for it (which rebooted the machine without warning, thanks...).
How can I get the ethernet port on my USB-C dock to operate please?

Thank you for your reply.
I do not have the exact details of the machine or the dock right now because they are with the client. I know the dock is a plain USB-C dock, not an Elite one.
The network adapter appeared again, seemingly spontaneously, and I was able to connect with it. So I am OK for now, but I may write back in if it disappears from view again.
Thanks
