Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After the recent update 5GHz wifi is not shown, which I have been using all the way long. I purchase the laptop 5 months back.

This is the device found in my network adaptor. "Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 gbn WiFi Adapter"

Checked with my Router tech support, they pointed me to

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Wireless-and-Networking/Realtek-RTL8723BE-802-11-bgn-Wi-Fi-Ada...

If the network card can't take 5GHz anymore, then what is the next alternative. I purchase it and it was supporting 5GHz, now what?

is this a driver issue?

I contacted HP Tech Support and they pointed me that the network card (HW) is an issue, so waiting for the replacement part to come in. Waiting for last 12 days for the part to arrive. Pathetic on HP side as the part if not available it seems (as per the service centre).

Will the new part support 5GHz? Is the new Network Card is a new product or upgraded?

What is the next alternative?

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

The Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn WiFi Adapter was never a dual band wifi adapter.

It can only work on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

It is not a driver issue, and if HP is sending you the same model wifi card, it is not going to connect to any 5.0 GHz wifi band.

I hope they are sending you a Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP Part # L17365-005, because if not,  you are going to be very disappointed.

Still expecting the new part to get shipped, no response from HP until now.

the loaned Part is not connecting to 5GHZ as well. Now answer to query, why the orginal part was connecting to 2.4 & 5GHz, but all of a sudden took off. All I was said is faulty HW.

let me wait. worst service by HP

I don't work for, or represent HP.

There is no way on this earth that the Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn WiFi Adapter could ever, does ever, or will ever connect to the 5.0 Ghz wifi band.

Just read the specs...what does it show next to the Wifi Bands spec?  Answer...2.4 GHz

End of discussion.

I know  you don't represent HP and not working for HP.

What I was said is the Loan Card will work for 5GHz as well, but HP TEch Service doesn't know what they are dealing with and don't know the tech part.

I agree with you, that the card will not support 5GHz and I know that.

I already informed you what wireless card you need the other day.

I suggest that you tell HP to send you that specific part, or not to waste your time.

Your notebook only has one wifi antenna cable connected to the Realtek wifi card, and the above card is the only dual band wifi card that will work with just one antenna cable.

Otherwise, save yourself the frustration, and buy one on eBay.  They aren't expensive.
