Hi,

As the title says, I can't connect my laptop to the internet through ethernet cable. The wifi connection works just fine.

I downloaded 3 different Realtek drivers compatible with my laptop from the HP website but when I try to install them I get an error. I attached a screenshot with this error. I've also attached a screenshot with my network adapters in Device Manager.

I need some help with this, please.

Hi @Barachiel,

Thank you for replying to my post. I performed a fresh Windows install and updated all drivers through HP Assistant, as you recommended. Unfortunately my laptop still doesn't see the ethernet connection.

The ethernet cable is not broken, I checked it on my desktop PC, the connection is available and the leds on the laptop ethernet port are blinking.

I also tried to manually install the Realtek LAN connection adapter from HP website, but I get the same error as before (see the screenshots above).

I really don't know what else to do, what do you recommend?

Hi,

Is there an unknown device in the Device Manager? The first picture shows only devices related to the wifi connectivity. Have you checked the BIOS/UEFI settings if the ethernet card is enabled/disabled??

There's no unknown device in the Device Manager, all drivers are properly installed.

However in BIOS there is no option to enable or disable the ethernet card.

It looks like the installer can't find the hardware. I'd probably try a live linux CD/USB to see if the ethernet card is really not detected and then phone HP Customer Support. However, since it's a Broadwell model it probably won't be under the warranty for some time now.

I tried that as well but Linux doesn't see the card either. Also the warranty expired one month ago.

I don't know what else to do...
