Hi @movingonup1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're facing issues with your HP Pavilion 15 laptop's Wi-Fi connectivity. Let's try some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the problem.
Check Wi-Fi Switch or Function Key: Ensure that the Wi-Fi switch on your laptop is turned on. Some laptops have a physical switch on the side or front, while others use a function key (like "F12") in combination with the "Fn" key to toggle Wi-Fi on/off. Look for the Wi-Fi icon on your laptop's keyboard and try pressing the corresponding function key to enable Wi-Fi.
Restart your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix minor software glitches. Restart your laptop and check if the Wi-Fi icon reappears.
Check Wi-Fi Settings: Verify that the Wi-Fi settings are enabled in the operating system. Here's how to check in Windows:
- Right-click on the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of the screen).
- Select "Open Network & Internet settings."
- In the Settings window, ensure that "Wi-Fi" is turned on.
Update Wi-Fi Drivers: Outdated or corrupted Wi-Fi drivers can cause connectivity problems. To update the Wi-Fi drivers, follow these steps:
- Right-click on the "Start" button and select "Device Manager."
- In the Device Manager window, expand the "Network adapters" section.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and choose "Update driver."
- Select "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions.
Reset Network Settings: Sometimes, resetting network settings can resolve connectivity issues:
- Open the Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click the Start button, and choose "Command Prompt (Admin)").
- Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
- Restart your laptop and check if the Wi-Fi icon appears.
Check for Airplane Mode: Make sure Airplane mode is disabled. If it's enabled, it will turn off Wi-Fi and other wireless connections.
Check Wi-Fi Adapter Hardware: In some cases, the Wi-Fi adapter may be faulty or disconnected internally.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
