Hi,

I upgraded my laptop last summer as with working remotely I wanted the best possible hardware. I have found that the WIFI is very unstable, especially on video calls ...... I assumed the issue lay with my internet provider Virgin. I upgraded my package to the new 1GB service & an engineer came out to ensure the network was set up properly. This doesn't seem to have helped. My laptop is within 5m of the router & only receives on average 234 mbps (according to Sam Knows) whilst the router receives 1076 mbps. If I use an ethernet cable is used the maximum I've got is 659 mbps. I'm starting to wonder whether it's the laptop itself - these speed (even at their lowest) should be more than enough to hold good reasonable video calls. Instead of this they freeze & go "washing machine" like on both sides!!! I'm really frustrated & really hoping someone can help. I tried a USB Wifi receiver which was no real help ..... I should say I'm not an IT engineer so probably haven't done any in-depth system checks ........ Thank you so much to anyone with any advice!!!
