Product: HP 15.6 Notebook
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a low-end HP 15.6 Notebook 15-F272WM (64-bit) with a Realtek RTL 8188EE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter and I would like to upgrade to a dual band to take advantage of my 5ghz wi-fi. Would an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11ac, Dual Band, 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 be a good choice? If not, what should I use? Thanks!

We have had reports that a dual band will "work" with one antenna but I am sure range and thruput are crippled. 

 

2 antennae allows installation of any wireless adapter of the right form factor. Your model has no whitelist problem.

It would be but your laptop very likely only has a single wireless antenna. In order to be sure it is necessary to disassemble and look. Do you want to try to do that?

The adapter is under a separate panel with 2 screws. I feel comfortable taking a look. If it has the single wireless antenna, is there an alternative?

I checked and there is only one antennae. It's okay the way it is; I just thought if I could make the change I would. Thanks for the info help and info!
