Hello there,

I am thinking about replacing of existing Wi-Fi module to something like Intel 8265 or similar ("ac" standard wifi adaptor with "MIMO" and so on). Planning to use socket adaptor/converter, 'cause M2 is not supported by my laptop. So, could you please share some light to specific moment - my machine has kind of vendor lock or whitelist for Wi-Fi adaptors??? I know there is supported Wi-Fi adaptors list in service manual for notebook, but what about lock of other vendors that are not in the list? Does it exist? How can I find it for sure? I have already changed hdd to ssd, 4 gb of ram to "not supported" 16 gb of ram and so far it has not been a problem to me. Everything seems to work fine.

Thanks a lot,
Lex Luthor

@Santey

Firstly wifi whitelist and lock does exist. Most likely HP machines were built before July 2014 may have the whitelist and your machine was built around August 2011.

Option: there are many USB AC wifi cards around, please use that way.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply. Very unfortunate. And I don't want to use USB Wi-Fi. I don't have so many USB ports on the machine. Is there any other solution?

So... I see this community is literally dead tribe? It seems better find an answer on forums.
