HP 14-cf1062st Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased an HP 14-cf1062st Laptop (Model # 6HF88UA#ABA) from staples earlier this year and the speed when I am on WIFI is VERY slow on my laptop.  We have 400/20 Internet service in our house but my laptop using a "speedtest" is only getting to about 35 to 40 Upload and about 10 download.

I'm not sure if there is an issue with the WIFI card, or if perhaps it is a DRIVER issue.

I think it used to run "faster", but now seems much slower all the time.

I also noticed that a bunch of "HP Updates" were recently applied, including some for the RealTek Adapter, which I believe it has for its WIFI and Bluetooth, so not sure if maybe a recent update had a bad impact on the WIFI, or if that is just coincidence.

The "specs" that I have from Staples indicate that it has a "Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Card".

But what is also a bit strange is that when I looked in "Device Manager", it shows the Wireless Card as a "RTL8723CE", which is an earlier version, but I don't know if that is just because the driver may perhaps be the same?

Anyone know of any issues with these laptops and the WIFI card and anything I can do to test out and see what I can do to improve my WIFI speed, since 30/10 is absurdly slow.

When I plug my laptop into the network directly with an Ethernet cable, I get about 390/20 speed, so I know the issue is specific to the wireless card.

Perhaps I can reload the default driver again and see what that does, but I'm not sure which one is the "right driver" for my laptop.

Thanks

Michael

@einstem

Speedtest will give you SAME (or very close) for all machines on your network, no matter which one. Because speedtest uses speed from your modem/router to the server(s), NOT from your router to your machine. Your machine actually uses WLAN RT AC 1x1 +BT M.2 223 part # L17365-005.

I don't know why its specs shows

      Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.2 combo

That may be true that why it is slow. Note: nothing to do wit speed test. If Speed test ONLY give you 40/10 then plaese ask your provider yo fix it.

Regards.
