Hello, has anyone experienced a very poor wifi signal when there shouldnt be? Google Speed Test says:

LAN/ethernet: 64.5mbs download 16.4mbs upload

Wireless (sat next to router): 39.9mbs download 3.48mbs upload

Wireless (in room next door): 0.17mbs download 15.2mbs upload

In the same room as router, my iphone is getting 63.4 download and 15.6 upload. In the room next door, it's getting 31.1 download and 13.8 download (consistent with other devices, also).

Have reinstalled wireless & LAN drivers, and wireless button as per HP instructions but no improvement. This is my first post so please excuse me if I've missed anything and thank you in advance.

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with the computer. I will be delighted to assist you here.

A few things to remember are mentioned below:

The compatibility of your router with the wireless card,

If the wireless card is 1x1: supports 2.4 GHz and below - slow connection and download/upload speed,

If it's 2x2 or more: support 5 GHz and above - Fast connected and speed.

Here are your Product specifications: Click here for details.

Keep me posted. 🙂

Hi, thank you for the reply. I ended up doing a complete reset/reinstall, which has fixed the problem. We have 2 wireless networks in our place, one uses 2.4GHz and the other 5GHz . Neither were working before, now the 5GHz one gets around 40 mbps download, but the 2.4GHz is still 10 mbps or less. Which is strange, because when I checked the specs, it seems my product has the 1x1 card, so should perform better using the 2.4GHz, right?

It works well enough for streaming, but I still don't understand how it can be 60-70 mbps in one room, and down to 40 mbps in the next. Or why the 5GHz is so much faster than the 2.4. What do you think?

Thanks for the response.

Follow this link and run a hardware test with the network adapter.

Let me know. 🙂
