If your Victus by HP Gaming Laptop's Wi-Fi isn't working despite going through the recommended troubleshooting steps, there are a few additional things you can try before considering a reset. Please follow these steps:
Check Flight Mode: Make sure that the Flight Mode is turned off. Flight Mode disables all wireless connections, including Wi-Fi.
Physical Wi-Fi Switch or Key: Some laptops have a physical switch or key combination to enable or disable Wi-Fi. Ensure that Wi-Fi is turned on using the switch or key combination.
Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Locate the "Network adapters" section, and expand it.
- Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select "Enable" if it's disabled.
Update Wi-Fi Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select "Update driver."
- Choose the option to search automatically for updated driver software. If an update is found, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
Network Troubleshooter:
- Open the Settings app (Windows key + I), then go to "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot."
- Run the "Internet Connections" troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart Router and Modem:
- Power off your router and modem.
- Wait for about 10-15 seconds, then power them back on.
- Wait for the devices to fully restart, and then check if your Wi-Fi is available.
Check Wi-Fi Broadcast Settings:
- Access your router's settings through a web browser.
- Make sure that the Wi-Fi network is broadcasting and is not hidden.
- Ensure that the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) is visible.
Security Software:
- Temporarily disable any third-party antivirus or firewall software.
- Check if the Wi-Fi works without these security programs running.
System File Checker (SFC):
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click on the Start button, select "Command Prompt (Admin)").
- Type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will check and repair system files.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates.
