I would like to update my wifi adapter with a plug in adapter. Currently, only able to receive on the 2.4ghz band. I recently purchased a TP-Link AC1300 USB WiFi Adapter (Archer T3U) - 2.4G/5G. While testing the new wifi adapter, I noticed that I'm still only able to receive on the 2.4ghz band. Do products exist that will allow me to connect to both the 2.4ghz band and the 5.0 ghz band on my laptop? The network adapter installed on my laptop is the Realtek RTL 8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adatper.

It is a CTO machine, I can't get its specs and the product ID won't help

Why, I tested USB dongle and actually use it on my 10years old machine, it works as shown

         

     both bands.png         

 

My machine connects to BOTH adapters and it is smart enough to use the faster adapter (5G).

 

Please check your machine, can it connect to both ? You can always disable the slower one.
