@GRACY5, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
WiFi disconnection can be quite frustrating. Let's work through some common solutions to address this issue:
1. Update Network Drivers
Updating the network drivers can often resolve connectivity issues. Follow these steps to update your network drivers using HP Support Assistant:
- Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu or by searching in the taskbar.
- Navigate to the Updates section.
- Check for updates and install any available network driver updates.
2. Run Windows Updates
Ensuring your Windows OS is updated can also help resolve network issues. Follow these steps:
- Open Settings from the Start menu.
- Go to Update & Security.
- Click on Windows Update and then select Check for updates.
- Install any available updates.
3. Adjust Power Management Settings
Sometimes, power management settings can affect network connectivity. To check and adjust these settings:
- Open Device Manager (you can find it by searching in the Start menu).
- Expand the Network adapters section.
- Right-click your WiFi adapter and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
- Click OK to save the settings.
4. Change WiFi Channel
Interference from other networks can cause disconnections. Changing the WiFi channel on your router may help:
- Refer to your router’s manual or support site to change the WiFi channel settings.
- Choose a channel less used by nearby networks (channels 1, 6, or 11 are generally recommended for 2.4GHz networks).
5. Reset Network Settings
Resetting your network settings can also help:
- Open Settings from the Start menu.
- Go to Network & Internet.
- Scroll down and click on Network reset.
- Confirm the action and let your computer restart.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
