Despite all windows updates being done and afaik latest driver the WiFi speed on my hp Envy is terrible. A £5 usb wifi dongle from eBay triples the download speed on Speedtest.net and makes internet use a completely different experience. Has HP given up on this one or is there any way to fix it without swapping out the WiFi card?

Hi, @whitestu
The driver linked in the discussion you were provided is way out of date.
This is the latest Wi-Fi driver for the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi adapter:
Realtek RTL8xxx Wireless LAN Drivers
2024.10.228.9 Dec 7, 2023
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp150501-151000/sp150994.exe
As far as a fix (if updating the driver doesn't help any)...none that I know of other than to replace the Wi-Fi card if possible.
If your notebook has an Intel core processor, you should be able to replace/upgrade the Realtek Wi-Fi adapter to either of these:
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # / SPS #L35282-005
Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # / SPS # M27269-005
If your notebook has an AMD processor, I will need to know the full model number or product number of your notebook to see if upgrading the Wi-Fi card would be possible.

Here is a thread that discussed that issue and the new driver that solved it.
I'm not an HP employee.

You're very welcome.
When you get home, if you let me know the model # of your notebook, I'll see what your options are (if any).

There are possibilities for some AMD platforms.
For example, the Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro HP part # / SPS #L35282-005 works fine in my HP AMD notebook because that is the one it came with from the factory.

I tried installing the driver but it doesn't want the install using the exe. Maybe because it's an older version than the one I have - 2024.10.228.1. the one you linked to is 2024.0.10.221
The laptop is model 15-ee0000na x360 convertible.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks, Stu

You're very welcome, Stu:
You should definitely be able to install the same card HP installed in my 15-ee0047nr x360 convertible.
The card is listed as supported in the service manual as well...Chapter 3, page 16.
You can try installing the driver I posted in my first reply that I explained was much newer than 2024.0.10.221 driver you were given by TheOldMan earlier this morning.
