Wi-FI Card Upgrade

HP Recommended
HP Pavilion 15-e056se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just want to upgrade my Wi-Fi Card, but I'm also wondering if an Intel 7260HMW work on my laptop. If not, what would be a better choice other than the default RT3290 installed?

Hi:

Yes, you can install this card...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

The card is readily available on eBay.  Maybe Amazon too.

Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Before installing the Intel card, go to the Windows control panel>programs>uninstall a program.

If there is any Ralink bluetooth software listed there, uninstall it.

Then go to the device manager, uninstall the Ralink bluetooth adapter under the Bluetooth adapters device manager category and check the uninstall driver box.

Do the same thing for the Ralink wifi adapter under the Network Adapters device manager category.

Then shut down, unplug the PC, remove the battery and install the wifi card.

Here are the links to the latest W8.1 wifi and bluetooth drivers for the Intel 7260 AC card...

Wifi:  3rd one down on the left side of the page.

Bluetooth:   3rd one down on the left side of the page.
