I am (same issue for my 6 colleagues) experiencing recurring issues after recent Windows updates. The most critical problem is that Wi-Fi and sometimes Bluetooth settings disappear after the laptop is idle, locked, or in standby mode.

Detailed Description of Issues:

  1. Wi-Fi / Internet Disappearing (Similar issue for bluetooth)

    • After leaving the laptop idle, locking the screen, or putting it into standby (sometimes after just 5–10 minutes, sometimes overnight), the Wi-Fi option completely disappears.

    • This is not just a loss of connection — the entire "Network & Internet" section of Settings vanishes, and no networks are available.

    • When this happens, the only way to restore Wi-Fi is to restart the laptop. This can occur multiple times per day.

    • Bluetooth has occasionally shown similar behavior (disappearing from settings ).

    • Screenshots are attached to illustrate the issue.

  2. Connection Drops After Lock Screen

    • Every time I lock the screen, the connection breaks, and Wi-Fi cannot be re-enabled from the taskbar.

The only workaround is to restart the laptop.
Troubleshooting Already Attempted:

  • Confirmed Windows Updates are installed.

  • Confirmed network adapter driver is up to date.

  • Rebooting the system: temporarily restores Wi-Fi, but issue recurs.

  • Updated all drivers using HP Support Assistant App
  • Done sfc /scannow → No integrity violations found DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth → No component store corruption detected

Hi @Amal542 ,

Thank you for choosing HP Community,

Troubleshooting Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Disappearance on HP ProBook 455 G8

If you're experiencing recurring issues with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings disappearing on your HP ProBook 455 G8 Notebook PC, particularly after it goes idle, is locked, or enters standby mode, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Update Drivers:
    • Ensure that your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Alternatively, use the Device Manager to update the drivers. Right-click on the Start button, select "Device Manager," and then update the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers.
  2. Power Management Settings:
    • Adjust the power management settings for your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters.
    • Open Device Manager, find your Wi-Fi adapter, and double-click to open Properties. Under the "Power Management" tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
    • Repeat the same steps for the Bluetooth adapter.
  3. Windows Updates:
    • Ensure that your Windows 11 system is fully updated. Sometimes, Microsoft releases cumulative updates that address specific compatibility issues.
  4. Disable Fast Startup:
    • Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what the power button does > Change settings that are currently unavailable. Uncheck the "Turn on fast startup" option.
  5. Check BIOS Settings:
    • Restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup (usually by pressing F10 or a designated key during startup).
    • Ensure that the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings in the BIOS are enabled.
  6. Perform a System Restore:
    • If the problem started after a recent update, you can perform a system restore to a point before the update was installed.
  7. Reset Network Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset. This will reinstall network adapters and set network components back to their default settings.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, consider contacting HP Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
