Wi-Fi icon disappears not able to connect with Wi-Fi at all

HP Recommended
HP laptop

Today my son logged in and the keyboard is not working properly so we were able to touch screen and pull up touch keyboard. Then we recognize that the Wi-Fi icon on the taskbar was not there at all, all you can see is airplane mode which is not able to turn on or off at the time. Why am I not able to reach the Wi-Fi icon??What steps should I take??

It happened to me this morning as well. I have an HP Envy 13. I tried disabling and re-enabling the card but that didn't work either. I can't see that anything updated recently.

I am back on. I went into device manager, right clicked on the intel wireless board, clicked on update driver. I then manually told it to check for drivers on my system. I picked the bottom one and it worked. It was a microsoft driver.
