Hey there, this would have happened for someone else? I recently uninstalled the Norton 360 antivirus, and suddenly the wifi stopped to work. I tried to run the Solution Support, but I got 2 different diagnosis: an issue on DNS, and malfunction on device driver. I have other devices connected under the same wifi modem settings, they works fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, unsuccessfully. Someone to suggest a good solution please? Thanks!

Hi @vertis21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Yes, this happens quite often after uninstalling security suites like Norton 360 because they sometimes modify network stack components (firewall, DNS filters, or Winsock settings). When removed, those changes can leave the system misconfigured.

Step-by-Step Fix

1. Reset Winsock and TCP/IP

Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
                                   netsh winsock reset
                                   netsh int ip reset
                                   ipconfig /flushdns

Restart your PC.

2. Check DNS Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → PropertiesInternet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  • Ensure that Obtain DNS server address automatically is selected.

3. Reinstall Network Adapter Driver

  • Press Win + X → Device ManagerNetwork adapters.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Uninstall device (check “Delete driver software”).
  • Restart PC → Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
  • If not, download the latest driver from HP Support.

4. Disable Leftover Norton Network Filters

  • In Device Manager, check under Network adapters and Non-Plug and Play Drivers for anything related to Norton.
  • Remove or disable them.

5. Run HP Network Check

Use HP Support Assistant:

6. Optional: Use Windows Network Reset

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset.
  • Restart after reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hey VikramTheGreat, thanks for your response, I'm sorry for the delay.  Unfortunately none suggestions were worked. Guess some issue on wifi device or OS. If you have some other solutions, will be welcome. Thanks anyway!
