Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Good day,

I have recently bought Hewlett Packard 15-g208nm M6D79EA and I installed windows 7 SP1 on it, managed to install drivers for everything except WiFi adapter, it is reporting as network controller in device manager with hardware Id

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365%SUBSYS_2230103C&REV_01

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365%SUBSYS_2230103C

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365%CC_28000

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365%CC_280

Closest I got to this driver would be sp70616 Broadcom 802.11 Wireless LAN Adapter

But when I try installing it, if fails at the end with following message:

error "update.cpp 1205" has occurred and Setup cannot continue.

can you please advise what driver do I need to download and install and if there is anything I need to change to make it work?

thank you in advance

Igor

You're very welcome.

Yes that is a very tricky card to find the right driver for.

You have to experiment unfortunately.

The problem is the more you experiment, the more the registry gets messed up, and you may have to reinstall W7 each time you try a different driver.

I've seen this before.

Try this one...

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72501-73000/sp72879.exe

Try this one... this is the very first driver released for that model wlan card.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66403.exe

Hi, Igor:

Try this one...

The package contains the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers and utility that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported models that are running a supported operating system.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70888.exe

Thank you for quick repply, but unfortunatly I get the same error as with previous driver. When trying to manualy update the driver from device manager it also fails with following window

windows encounter a problem installing the driver software for your device

windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

The system cannot find the file specified.

Unfortunatly it does not specify what file it has issues with.

I do have WiFi indication light on the keyboard, so I can enable and disable it and it worked previously on windows 10, so hardware wise it should be good.
