Recently, My Wifi gets disconnected very frequently and only after windows network diagnosis it fixes the problem ( Here, Most of the times this diagnosis found the problem as "default gateway is not available"). I am having HP 2000-2201TU Model Laptop and Using Windows 7 Professional Service pack . My Wifi driver which i am using from is "Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter". Kindly please help me fixing the issue. Solutions i tried and failed -> 1. Firewall off 2. Malwarebytes (Antivirus which i was using -> i uninstalled it -> still problem is not fixed) 3. Disabling wifi and enabling wifi 4. netsh int ip reset -> command i run on cmd as administrator -> Problem fixed for few hours but again came back -> so problem not fixed Should i uninstall wifi driver and reinstall ? or what to do ?? I am unable to find "RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter" driver for Windows 7 on HP offical website.

Hi Paul,

Thank you very much for such a quick reply. Thank you very much Sir.

Dear Paul,

My Wifi gets disconnected very frequently -> windows network diagnosis gives error "default gateway is not available" -> after diagnosis network is fixed for a small time -> and I loose my wifi connection again.

Question 1 : - "Does Uninstalling mine old driver and reinstalling the latest driver -> Doing this will fix this problem ???"

Related information -> I am currently using Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter of 5.0.33.1 dated 23-09-2013.

Question 2 -> Does reinstalling this updated 5.0.53.0 May 18, 2015 (of Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter )...Will create more problem to like "hardware not supporting this updated driver" or "slowing and hanging of laptop"  ??

Related Information -> Mine HP2000-2201TU is an old laptop of 2011 or 2012; With Windows 7 64 bit

I do wait for reply 🙂

Thank you !!!

You're very welcome.

There should be no need to uninstall the current driver.

But you can if you want.

Usually, all that is needed would be to run the new driver file and it should overwrite the existing driver file and you should see version 5.0.53.0 where you now see 5.0.33.1.

The driver should cause no compatibility or performance issues.

Hopefully it will resolve the problem you are having with the wifi adapter, but there is no guarantee that it will.

If it doesn't then unfortunately I don't have any other suggestions for you to try, since you have already tried any of the troubleshooting steps I would have recommended.

Hi Paul,

Thank you...Thank you very much. Kindly please pardon me for late reply.

The updated wifi driver shared by you, is working wonderfully for me. I am not facing any wifi disconnections and also no error of "default gateway is not available".

This new wifi driver is working absolutely fine form last 2 days for me and solved my problem....may it will not reappear 🙂

I have also installed my antivirus( malwarebytes) few hours ago with this new driver...and till now everything looks good.

Thanks Paul.

I am very much accepting the solution offered by you. Thank you Paul.
