Hi. I have an older hp notebook and I'm having problems finding my wifi connection.  It has found my neighbors all around me but not mine nor my personal Hotspot, both are from metropcs

Sounds your machine ONLY supports 2.4GHz networks. Please allow your router to broadcast dual bands, your machine can see 2.4GHz SSID and allow you to connect.

Depending on how old your machine is, you MAY be able to replace wifi adapter. One quick option you can use USB adapter such as

             https://www.asus.com/au/networking-iot-servers/adapters/all-series/usb-ac53-nano/

You can see much much improvement during download files from internet

Regards.
