Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (8H3V1AV)

I have spent about 3 hours on live support with HP and still unresolved.  Just out of the blue the WIFI on the unit will not connect to any networks. The computer is only 30 days old.  I have done everything that support has suggested to resolve the issue and nothing. I see similar posts about this issue but nothing has resolved the problem on this lap top.  I can see all of the available wifi networks and when i click on one to join it "spins" says connecting and then "cannot connect to this network" Under the device manager and "events" it has a log of "device not started" but all diagnostics I run on the wifi card says that its running property and no errors.  PLEASE HELP!!

Hi @azam12

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating this issue can be, especially with a new laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the Wi-Fi connectivity problem on your HP Victus 15:

1. Forget and Reconnect to the Network

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
  • Select the network you’re trying to connect to and click Forget.
  • Restart your laptop and try reconnecting to the network.

2. Update Network Drivers

  1. Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
  2. Expand Network adapters.
  3. Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver.
  4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software. If it finds a new driver, install it.

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Network Adapter

  1. In Device Manager, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Uninstall device.
  2. Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the network driver.

4. Run Network Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Network Adapter.
  • Run the troubleshooter and follow any suggested steps.

5. Check Wi-Fi Settings

  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi toggle is turned on. Sometimes laptops have a physical switch or keyboard shortcut (like Fn + F12) to enable/disable Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure Airplane mode is turned off.

6. Reset Network Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  2. Scroll down and select Network reset.
  3. Follow the prompts to reset your network settings. You will need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi networks afterward.

7. Check Power Management Settings

  1. In Device Manager, right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
  2. Go to the Power Management tab.
  3. Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

8. Check Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your Windows is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.

9. BIOS Update

  • Check the HP Support website for any available BIOS updates for your laptop model, as a BIOS update can sometimes resolve hardware issues.

10. Perform a System Restore

  • If the issue started recently, you could try performing a system restore to a point when the Wi-Fi was working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
