We have an Omen 15 that seems to have a real problem staying connected to WiFi. We have a number of machines in the house that can all talk to the wifi hotspot (supplied by our internet provider) - Macbooks, MSI, Intel NUC as well our streaming STB and a number of Alexas. The Omen is one of the closest machines to the hotspot (about 5m away) but location int he house doesn't seem to matter (and putting the MacBook Air next to it, we have no issues). Also happens when using a second Wifi hotspot
The symptom is ... everything will be working fine but then it drops WiFi for a few seconds (5-120s) ... usually recovers without intervention but occasionally will need WiFi to be cycled in Windows.
If we replace the on-board wifi with an external one (cheap Belkin USB wifi adapter) and disable the on-board ... it's flawless. Drivers are all up-to-date (checked on Windows and HP site). Been doing it since new (about 9 months ago) but becoming really frustrating (online games dropping out etc)
So ... is the internal WiFi module replacable, and are there any recommendations for what to replace it with that'll be more robust/reliable? Apart from this issue the laptop is pretty solid
