Hi, my wireless internet speed has always been 10Mbps after I upgraded to windows 10. If I connect to internet directly using ethernet cable I get 300 Mbps (Rated ISP provider promised speed for my internet plan). Only wireless speed is always ~ 10Mbps. I checked with a friends laptop and he gets about 100Mbps wireless.
Also, whenever there is a windows 10 update the wireless internet speed reduces from 10Mbps to 0.3Mbps and sometimes even worse. I have to uninstall recent windows 10 updates to get it back to atleast 10Mbps.
Kindly help.
In device manager my network adapter shows Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter which I think is the wireless adapter.
Thanks,

Viji

Hi

Try...

Copy, Paste and Save in Notepad, as LBB.bat (not a .TXT) and double click to run.
Preferably run as an Administrator.
OR copy and use the individual command lines as needed.
Post anything non-personal, but relevant please.

PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter"
PowerShell -Command "Get-NetAdapter -Name * | Format-Table -View Driver"

Hi

So some things are strange....

SSID : CONNECTING...     your WiFi SSID is missing or hidden?

SSID : Whiffy1

ComputerName : internetbeacon.msedge.net
RemoteAddress : 13.107.4.52
InterfaceAlias : WiFi
SourceAddress : 192.168.0.11
PingSucceeded : True
PingReplyDetails (RTT) : 20 ms

Your reply seems to have IP v6 values, mine has IP v4, but you have a really good ping time.

##########

So my ISP provided router gives me the Default Gateway printed on the Label, and the default WiFi details.

192.168.0.1  and I change my SSID to WhiffyOne, and if needed WhiffyToo.

Yours I cannot establish.

As I am in the UK, a quaint li'l old country, where IP v6 is less common than the Bubonic Plague I can only quote the IP v4 values.

You need

Eth IPv4.png

Most of them you have.

This one is best kept private, but it shows some of the public WiFi's I have used...

In the list should be the SSID of your HOME network.  Then the passphrase or password.

Profile "%wkey%" is not found on the system.

C:\>netsh wlan show profile name=oakwood_guest key=clear

Sorry. I should have mentioned earlier. My Wifi name is "CONNECTING..."

In our apartment we just gave a freaky name.

Do you see anything else that may be causing the wifi speed to be less than 10 mbps. It ranges always between 1  to 10 mbps.

Hi

Nothing jumps out.

Channel : 1
Receive rate (Mbps) : 54
Transmit rate (Mbps) : 54
Signal : 90%

Wi-Fi Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter 2 Up C4-17-FE-55-84-8F 54 Mbps

The adapter is installed, and good for 54 Mbps.  So can you access your Modem/Router using a cable?

Could you try and select a different, even Auto Channel selection?

What are you paying for from your ISP?

Flow Chart Adapters.pngWiFi Interference.png

You can see 4 WiFi's all sharing the same channel and how wide the spread is.

I can access my modem through cable and I get more than 300 Mbps when wired to modem. Only in wifi it is less than 10 mbps.

I also have another laptop on the same wifi network and I see it uses the same channel 1 but I get 150 Mbps on wifi.

So I doubt it is the channel selection. Thoughts?

HP Recommended

Hi

Not really.

Network Card(s): 2 NIC(s) Installed.    Do you need TWO?

Broadcom 4312 thing powered by Microsoft.

So swap the Adapter or find better drivers.
