After the latest windows 11 update of today around 14:00 CET
The Wifi adapter seems not to be existing anymore.
No problems the last weeks...all OK.
- so I restored to an earlier version "restore point" (1 week back).  (No luck)
- downloaded the latest drivers for the MediaTek MT7921 wifi-6 on the HP support page. (sp158921) did an install.   (No luck)
- also did the factory reset for the network   (No luck)

Any help is welcome at the moment.
Also "how to start a HP support ticket"  , since I was directed to this comunity instead of picking it up by HP.
But maybe they step in... I don't know how this works with HP.
Let's say it's an experience already... just getting support.

Thanks for reading and your time.

@wydowaw welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

It sounds like the recent Windows 11 update may have caused the MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi adapter to become unrecognized. You've already tried several good steps, System Restore, driver reinstall, and network reset, but let's go a bit deeper to resolve this.

Check Device Manager for Hidden or Error Devices

  • Press Win + X → select Device Manager.
  • Click View → enable Show hidden devices.
  • Expand Network adapters and look for MediaTek MT7921 or any device with a yellow exclamation mark or greyed-out icon.
  • If found, right-click → Uninstall device → check Delete the driver software for this device → restart your PC.

Install Latest MediaTek Driver from HP

Even if you've tried this already, let's ensure it's done cleanly:

  • Download the latest driver: Official HP® Support
  • Right-click the downloaded .exe → Run as administrator.
  • After installation, restart your PC.

Use HP Cloud Recovery or HP Support Assistant

If the adapter still doesn’t appear:

BIOS Update (if available)

Sometimes, a BIOS update can restore hardware detection:

  • Visit HP Drivers & Software
  • Enter your notebook model → check for BIOS updates under Firmware.
  • Install only if newer than your current version.

Advanced: Use Windows Optional Updates

  • Go to Settings → Windows Update → Advanced Options → Optional Updates.
  • Look under Driver updates for MediaTek or HP entries and install them.

Reset Windows Network Stack (again, but via CMD)

Open Command Prompt as admin and run:

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

ipconfig /flushdns

Restart your PC afterward.
