Hi:

What model wifi card does your notebook have now?

Some notebooks only come with one antenna wire which limits your notebook upgrade possibilities.

Chapter 3 of the service manual has the list of Wi-Fi cards offered in the model series.

HP Pavilion Notebook (Intel)Star WarsTM Special Edition Notebook Maintenance and Service Guide

No Wi-Fi 6 cards are supported so any Wi-Fi 6 card you install will be an experiment on your part-assuming your notebook has two antenna wires present.

The card I currently have, and here in the task manager the name of the cardkartawifi.JPG14.JPG

OK:

So, a definite upgrade to a better Wi-Fi 5 card would be this one which is listed in chapter 3 of the service manual I posted the other day.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter (non vPRO)   HP part #784644-005

The above model Wi-Fi adapter will have twice the throughput (867 MBPS vs 433 MBPS) of the Intel 3165 AC.

If you want to experiment with a Wi-Fi 6 card with no 100% guarantee that it will work, try this one:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005

Hopefully, it will work just fine in your notebook.

Make sure you get the ones with the HP part numbers I posted.
