Hi @Beatrizd-,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I can try to help you troubleshoot the issue with the WiFi icon on your HP laptop. Here are a few steps you can follow.
- Check Flight Mode: Make sure that the laptop is not in Flight Mode, as this can disable wireless connectivity. You can usually toggle Flight Mode on or off in the system settings.
- Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your HP laptop and check if the WiFi icon reappears.
- Function Key: Some laptops have a function key (like F12) that can toggle the wireless functionality. Check if there's a wireless symbol on one of your function keys and press it while holding down the "Fn" key.
- Device Manager: Open the Device Manager on your laptop and check if the network adapters are working properly. If there's an issue, you may see a yellow exclamation mark next to the wireless adapter. Try updating or reinstalling the driver.
- Check Network Settings: Go to the network settings on your laptop and ensure that the WiFi is turned on. You can usually find this in the system tray or in the settings menu.
- System Updates: Ensure that your operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for connectivity issues.
- HP Support Assistant: If your laptop came with HP Support Assistant, use it to check for updates and troubleshoot network issues.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the WiFi adapter.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
