HP ENvy dv6 Notebookn 6530
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hello,

I unwisely restored my laptop to its factory configuration (8 years old). Since then, the wireless connection is absent from the task bar and the wifi driver is absent from the device manager.

To make things worse, my ethernet plug was damaged years ago, I can only use wifi. So I cannot use ethernet to access your online diagnostic and repair tools.

I downloaded the wireless driver sp64031.exe using another computer and manually installed it. I see the installer expanding files, but have no termination message.
I restarted my computer, and nothing changed : no taskbar icon, no adapter.

Perhaps I did not choose the proper adapter ? I did not find out how to check the name of the wireless card of my laptop.

Could you tell me what wireless driver to use, and which checkings to do, to repair my wireless driver ?

My computer ID : C1Y23EA#ABF

Many thanks in advance

Tomi

You're very welcome, Tomi.

You need this W8.1 driver for the Atheros wifi card your notebook has.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70859.exe

You would also need this Bluetooth driver...

Hi, Tomi:

If the wifi adapter needs a driver, there will be a device showing up in the device manager labeled as a Network Controller.

it will have a little ! mark next to it.

I think in French, it would show up as a Contrôleur de réseau.

If you see this device, please post the hardware ID for it, so I can see what driver it needs.

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0036&CC_0280

Thanks again,
