I just got a new HP Pavilion laptop last Tuesday. Occasionally, my wirless connection seems slow . I haven't figured out what the problem is yet. The router is somtimes a bit slow, but that isn't always the problem.

I did download some of the updates available via the HP Support Assistant, including an update for the WLAN.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do?

Edit:  I wanted to add that I ran a network check via the HP Support Assistant and Windows Network Diagnostics. Both showed no problems. The lag comes and goes without warning. The time it lasts varies. I tried restarting my computer and that doesn't always work. I use Google Chrome since that's what I'm accustomed to.

Try connect to router using Ethernet cable. If you have same sporadic "slow down" in speed,  then your router and/or Internet service is the cause.

According to page 3 of HP Pavilion 15 Laptop PC - Maintenance and Service Guide, you may be using an Intel wireless card. Download Intel Driver & Support Assistant to get latest driver.
