At some point in time, a few weeks (or months) ago, I  noticed that wireless speed of my laptop dropped significantly (very slow).

I have checked the driver of my wireless internet adapter and re-installed this. Updated the driver automatically and manually. No change noted when using wireless internet.

Wireless Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 #2

On the HP forum, I found a file called lbb.bat which gave me following information:

It seems that the internet speed is more than fine for Wifi 3.

Internet works fine when connected with a cable.

Can somebody help me with this please?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to HP Support Community

Do you have other devices connected wirelessly to your Network? Are they working fine?

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Next try these steps

Click the Start Button.
Type “Device Manager” and press Enter.
Click Continue if prompted.
Click the [+] next to Network adapters.
Right Click on Wireless Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265  Card.
Click Properties.
Click on the Advanced Tab.
Scroll down and look for Roaming Aggressiveness and change it to highest

Release and renew IP address for your computer:

a. Press Windows key + X and select “command prompt (admin)”.
b. Type ipconfig /release and hit Enter.
c. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
d. Type Exit and hit Enter.

Also set the channel width to Auto

- Press Windows Key + X and select Network Connections from the menu.
- When Network Connections window opens, right click your wireless connection and choose Properties from the menu. Click the Configure button and go to the Advanced tab.
- Locate 802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4 and set it to Auto.
- Click OK to save changes.

Keep me posted how it goes and have a great day 😊

@Crazy Toad

Thank you for the guidlines.

I tried these when receiving the update and tested last week.

1. HPSA was up to date.

2. Update & security: OK

2. Next steps: i executed all of them

I see no changes in download speed 😞

I am really wondering what is wrong.

Please disable your Antivirus or Firewall and check if that helps with the Speed. Also run a Malware Scan to ensure this issue is not been caused by Malwares

If the issue persists, you can attempt a Reset. Please follow the instructions in this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289
