I had never had issues with my printer (HP7740 wide format SN: [Personal Information Removed]) prior to a few months ago. The printer is 6 years old.  When I attempt to print from Windows 11 computer or from my cell phone, the printer/device is either not showing up to select (like it's not sending out a WiFi signal) and/or an error message will come up saying the printer is offline.  To remedy this, I have to power off the printer to refresh and turn it back on.  This process has to be done each and every time I need to print for work, which is very tedious and time consuming.  I need this printer always ready to print at the touch of a button as it was in the past.  Especially because I print heavy volume as I work from home in finance.  Is this problem repairable?  If so, is it worth the cost or should I buy another printer?  All help is appreeciated!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting the offline error, I am glad to assist you.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  • Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
  • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
  • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  • If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
  • Try to print.

.Assign a manual IP address to manually connect the printer.

Find the printer IP address from the network configuration page to assign it manually.

  • Load plain white paper in Tray 1.
  • On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon .
  • Swipe up on the display, and then touch Reports.
  • Touch Network Configuration Page.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.
