I'm trying to find out if my laptop is whitelisting wifi cards because the Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter that came with my laptop is too slow even with bluetooth disabled. I haven't purchased a new one yet because I don't want to waste money only to find out there's a whitelist blocking me from using it.  I did find a list of 3 wifi cards that seem to be compatible on partsurfer but only one of them is a 2x2 ac card and I haven't seen many good reviews about it.  It's the Wireless (WLAN) module (11AC 7265NV M.2 D0) which turns out to be an Intel 7265NGW, or at least that's the only things I've been able to find through searching google with that same module information.  Does anyone know if this thing can take any other 2x2 ac cards that have better reviews?  I've tried looking through this forum and knowledge base but I haven't been able to find anything other than that partsurfer list so far and that was on my own.

Thank you for choosing the HP Support Forums, a community energized by solutions, as we are eager to help resolve your concerns,

Did you know HP doesn't recommend upgrading hardware components on your device?

(HP recommends that you go easy on it as the device is equipped with parts that perform at its optimal performance and also, the upgradeable parts listed above are purely for your ease, though the decision to upgrade will be at your own discretion).

While you ponder on that, here's what I personally suggest, if you've already gone through the list of wireless card's compatible with your device and aren't sure which one you'd want to go for, might I suggest an external USB wireless dongle (2x2) would be far easier to use and you wouldn't have to worry about it being on the whitelist as it's a plug and play device.

Also, to answer your question, the wireless card's tested and approved for your device by HP, are listed below:

Support for the following WLAN modules:

● Broadcom BCM943142HM 802.11 bgn 1×1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 HMC Combo Adapter

● Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11ac 1×1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter

● Qualcomm Atheros AR9565 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter

I hope that answers your query,
