Hi @UnitechZim,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble verifying your HP laptop's serial number. Let's figure this out together.

  • Where are you trying to verify the serial number (e.g., on HP's website, during warranty registration, or with support)?
  • Have you double-checked the serial number for any typing errors, such as confusing similar-looking characters like "O" and "0" or "1" and "I"?

Locate the Correct Serial Number:

  • The serial number can typically be found:
    • On the bottom of your laptop (on a sticker or etched directly on the casing).
    • Inside the battery compartment (if the battery is removable).
    • Printed on the original packaging or receipt.
    • Via software: On Windows, press Windows + R, type cmd, and then enter the command:

Double-Check for Mistakes:

  • Ensure you've entered the number correctly. Look out for common mistakes like:
    • Zero (0) versus the letter "O."
    • One (1) versus the letter "I."

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Download and install the HP Support Assistant on your laptop. It will automatically detect and display the serial number.

  • If you're still unable to verify the serial number, contact HP Phone Support directly. Provide them with the details of your laptop (model, purchase date, etc.) so they can assist in verifying the information.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
