Updated everything via wired connection. Still the exclamation point of death in dev mgr. Trying support and I get:

While wireless is still broken, they did figure out that my serial is mapped to 2 different product codes. Clearly there's some other data issue in their system. but thanks for the suggestion!

If Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome have a site problem then try Firefox.
I have to clear my cookies once every 2 to 3 weeks or some of the HP sites don't load properly Firefox seems to work better.
You need to use the model name, the full product before the "3" sign or a serial number when lookup up documents
product lookup https://support.hp.com/us-en/products
parts lookup https://partsurfer.hp.com/ accepts serial number
envy 17.3 is not a good lookup code.

I've seen this before at the HP partsurfer. The serial number is not always unique and the product ID needs to be added in it has to do (for example) with some countries where the default wifi board is not allowed due to band restrictions. A special product ID is made up to show it was a custom build and a different WiFi board is put in. I am just guessing but there is a reason for this: newer laptops have the SN impressed on the plastic chassis and do not have a label so need an added ID.
