omen 15t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey guys. I'm planning on buying an omen 15t (the newer one) which has the bluetooth 4.2 card in it. I'm wondering what model the 5.0 bluetooth card used is and is it difficult to replace? Thanks

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of the notebook you want to buy?

There are many different models, and they will have different options and service manuals.

Hi:

That model is too new and there aren't any manuals for it.

It does indicate that it could come with one of two wifi adapters...If it comes with the second one, you won't need to upgrade it.

802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 4.2 combo

Intel® 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Gigabit Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5 Combo(MU-MIMO supported)

The model I'm looking at will come with the bluetooth 4.2 card. I'm only going to purchase it if I can upgrade to the bluetooth 5. Any ideas?

You should be able to upgrade to this card...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9560 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.0 Combo Adaptor (non-vPro)
HP Part # L22634-001

Without a service manual to give you, I can't tell you exactly how hard it will be to swap out the card.

It won't be real easy because there aren't any access compartments.

You will have to remove the entire bottom cover, and usually there are screws hidden under the rubber feet and whatnot.

I will be saving about $500 if I get the computer without the bluetooth 5.0. Is it worth it then? Will the part be expensive including the replacement rubber feet? I've taken apart laptops before, mostly dell and you need to get under the keyboard as well for screws. Are the omen the same or easier? Thanks! Also, do you know if I can buy a card from Intel or does it need to be hp specific? And if so and you're positive it's that card, can you link me to a purchase please?

$500 bucks???!!!

Are you sure that is the only difference?

The wireless card, even if you buy it from HP, is only $19.00...

You should be able to carefully peel off the rubber strips or feet and reuse them.

Do you have a set of notebook pry tools?

If not I suggest you get a set.

The pc above is the one I'm interested in buying. The one below is the one which I believe is the same as above but more expensive in the end. Correct? The only thing it's missing is the wireless card in question.

Yes, it appears to be.

Sometimes you get a better deal not buying from HP.

I'm thinking that the model you want on the first link has the crappy Realtek 8822BE dual band wifi adapter, so you will most likely want to swap that one out for the Intel card I posted.

I wish HP would put that product number in their support site, so you can get a service manual.

It doesn't show up on the support site or the parts surfer site.
